In February 2015, the club played host to the 2015 Canada Winter Games Curling Competition.

The Lighting Summary

The Lighting project for the Prince George Curling Club was designed and provided by Lumisave, implementing the use of LED lighting to reduce energy usage and increase lighting quality within the building.. The benefits of LED lighting used for this project can be widely seen in relation to energy savings, lighting quality and reduced maintenance. By comparing LED lighting with HPS you are able to achieve better lighting levels with fewer energy costs. The Curling club is an important part of our community and Lumisave wanted to show support for its local businesses.

The Lighting Solution

Lumisave installed the BL520 SERIES Bay Lights with shallow reflectors in the Prince George Golf and Curling in December 2013. The result was a very stark difference in lighting quality and evenness. The majority of the images above have the Lumisave images on one side of the curling rink and the old bay lights on the other side. You can see the colour difference, and the uneven light in the area where the older lights are. The curling club is very happy with the new lights and they will be a huge help for televised events in the future.

Results

Through the completion of the lighting project PG Curling Club has seen the following benefits:

  • Improved activity areas.
  • 50% brighter, more vibrant lighting levels.
  • 70% reduction in energy consumption when comparing Lumisave’s LED solution to traditional H.I.D lighting.
  • 100% reduction in scheduled lighting maintenance, when compared to traditional H.I.D lighting.
